parshat pinchas, numbers 29
Join Geoffrey Stern and Rabbi Adam Mintz recorded on Clubhouse. We review the literature on the obscure word “Atzeret” which can variously mean an assembly, a captive audience, a day-off from work or an after-party. With an emphasis on the After-Party, we use Atzeret as an opportunity to explore the concept of The Feast in the Ancient Near East and in the Torah.

Welcome to Madlik. My name is Geoffrey Stern and at Madlik we light a spark or shed some light on a Jewish Text or Tradition. Along with Rabbi Adam Mintz we host Madlik Disruptive Torah on clubhouse every Thursday and share it as the Madlik podcast on your favorite platform. This week I had the pleasure of visiting the Israel Museum and seeing an Exhibition called Feasts. When reading the Torah portion of Pinchas, I was struck by the word Atzeret and the requirement to extend the celebration of a holiday by an extra day. So join us for this week’s episode: Party On.
